Welcome to Dutch
Hill Elementary
Location
Dutch Hill Elementary is located approximately two miles
east of the city of Snohomish. While much of the area is rural and
dedicated to farmlands, the community also features numerous small housing
developments as well as larger subdivisions. Dutch Hill has 522
Kindergarten through sixth grade students, and is a part of the Snohomish
School District. The Snohomish School District is 164 square miles,
and serves approximately 9,000 students in grades
K-12. The district consists of nine elementary schools, two middle
schools, Snohomish High School, a freshman campus, and an alternative high
school (AIM).

Statement
The purpose of the Dutch Hill School is to maximize each
individual's academic growth through research based learning opportunities
and assessments aligned to state standards.

Statement
The Dutch Hill staff will strive to involve students,
parents, and community in creating a safe and supportive environment.
As educators, we will equip children with the knowledge, skills, and
motivation to reach their potential as life-long learners and respectful
citizens.

Improvement Plan
Collectively
Dutch Hill staff will develop an assessment profile
utilizing specific researched information including student and community
perception data, demographics, and state mandated test scores in order to
increase ALL of our students' academic achievement in the content goal
areas of Reading, Math and Writing. Dutch Hill's School
Improvement Leadership Team members include: Debbie Harrington, classified
employee, Mary Gervais, certificated employee, Shawn Ast,
certificated employee, Zan Peterson-Moens, certificated employee, Solveig
Vinje, certificated employee, and Donna
Kapustka, principal.
Student Program
Dutch Hill provides a comprehensive K-6 academic program designed to meet the individual needs of
our students in the content areas of reading, writing, communication
skills, mathematics, science, social studies, health, study skills and the
fine arts. We have a variety of teaching configurations, including single grade,
multi-grade, and academically split grade level classrooms. In addition,
Dutch Hill has 1.5 sessions of Special Education Preschool and both full
day tuition based Kindergarten as well as a morning and afternoon half-day
Kindergarten sessions. Students at Dutch Hill receive weekly
instruction in library media skills and twice weekly instruction in music
and physical education. Our students are offered a variety of
experiences with technology. Each classroom has current technology
and access to the Internet. Band is offered for 6th grade students
each morning before school begins; a School Leadership Club is offered
during the school day for students K-6; an after school Sports Club is
offered for students grades 2-3; and an after school Floor Hockey Club is
offered for students grades 4-6.
Dutch Hill offers
an academically capable classroom for students in grades 4/5/6; a
Title/LAP program for students who qualify for additional assistance in
reading and math; a resource room special education classroom for students
requiring an Individualized Education Plan. Additional services are
available for students with speech, language, vision, hearing, and
physical/occupational disabilities, and for students with counseling
needs.
