Class Routines:

Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable!

*Morning Entry: I will be happy to greet the students at the door. The usual greetings are a hug, handshake, high-five or knucks. Some past students have been known to create their own appropriate greetings.

*Morning Entry continued: After putting their coat and backpack away, the students will always have an entry task that is review of something we've been working on. It is a valuable piece of assessment and students need to enter and get right to work.

*Planners: Each day the students will fill out their planner, while I fill the planner out in email format. This email will be sent to the parent at the end of the day. Each day students will receive a sticker for coming to school with their work finished and turned in. The sticker is to go on the bottom of that day in the planner. If the student is missing a sticker they were most likely missing work that day. This is a form of communication from me to you, letting you know if your child is turning their work in and on time. (If I have a substitute that day stickers might not be given out.)

*Weekly Reading: Each week on Monday morning, the student's planner will be checked for a parent signature and a total amount of mintues read for that week. A minimum of 150 minutes a week, (6th grade), 140 minutes a week, (5th grade) for each student, is due each Monday morning. It is a great idea to have some of this reading be out loud, which helps the student's fluency and helps the student become a confident reader and speaker.

*Weekly Math: Each week on Monday morning, the student's planner will be checked for a parent signature identifying a total of at least 40 minutes spent on Kahn Academy and 20 minutes spent on Xtramath. Xtramath is a computation page and Kahn covers all subjects for all ages, it's endless.
